Abstract

The Next Total Solar Eclipses 21 June 2001 and 4 December 2002
(Poster Display)

Peter E. Anderson

Vorstellung zweier Poster über die nächsten beiden totalen Sonnenfinsternisse und über Beobachtungsmöglichkeiten in Australien.

Presentation, two small poster papers (each 50x65cm) and a map will be described as:

1. A poster detailing a Total Eclipse Safari to Africa to observe the 21 June 2001 eclipse. Though the trip leaves from Australia, a "land content" only may be purchased.

2. A poster and map detailing the visibility of the 4 December 2002 eclipse from South Australia, particularly Ceduna, where totality first strikes land, though only at 9° altitude.

These posters deal with the 21 June 2001 African eclipse and the 4 December 2002 eclipse, which is best seen in Australia from Ceduna. (Investigated is the Ceduna area.)

The African eclipse trip is a commercial event which is very competitively priced and has a 'land only' content for participants, who do not come from Australia.

The information on Ceduna is not directed to any particular expedition; it simply supplies information for intending visitors. The map, that I refer to, is a road map of South Australia showing the track of the 2002 eclipse.
